Hodges ready for Westcar's return
to Roseville

Steven Blakesley / Bobby Hodges Racing
Carson City, Nev. – 18 year-old Bobby Hodges of Carson City, Nev.
will round out his impressive 2008 Western Late Model campaign this
Friday and Saturday, competing in the Ward Land Management &
Development / Roseville Toyota 100 for the Westcar Late Model Series
at All American Speedway.
Hodges and the Westcar Late Model Series competitors will be racing
as part of a program that features the season finale for prestigious
NASCAR Camping World Series West, the west coast’s top stock car
series. Over 4000 fans are expected.
The Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Freshman will be arriving in Roseville
on Thursday night, before qualifying on Friday and racing on
Saturday.
“It would be nice to run good,” Hodges said. “It will be a cool
experience (racing in front of the large crowd) but I’m not really
planning on changing the way I’m racing.”
Hodges, a veteran of the Westcar Late Model Series, brings a resume
of success at the one-third mile asphalt oval which was remodeled in
2006. In five previous starts, he has racked up five top-tens.
Consistency has been the name of the game for Hodges, with an
outstanding nine top-tens in his 11 starts at Altamont Raceway Park
in Tracy, Calif. in 2008. Hodges is relishing the opportunity to
return to Roseville, the track where the Westcar Late Model Series
got its start in April 2005.
The last two starts for Hodges have seen a rare streak of bad luck
for the teenager. After being gathered up in a massive crash on
September 27th, Hodges came into the October 4 & 5 event
at Altamont Raceway Park leading the Big Dog Series standings.
A flat tire, coupled with a wheel stud problem, forced Hodges to
retire early and sacrifice the Big Dog championship.
“We’re prime for at least a top-ten run,” Hodges said. “Part of why
it would be nice to do well would be to end the season on a better
note.”
Hodges has finished second in four races this year, along with
coming home second in the Big Dog Series, Tri-Holiday Series, and
Westcar Late Model Series standings. The young engineer is overdue
for win.
